Hi folks,

Just a brief posting to let you all know the winners from the ‘July Shootout’ at the Shakey RWYB on 22nd & 23rd July.

The Wild Bunch had 14 teams participating at the weekend. Saturday was frustratingly wet for a lot of the day and some teams queued up a couple times and did not get runs and a few teams had one. Well done and big thanks to all those Wild Bunchers who worked to dry the track! And all the hard working track crew. Sunday was mostly dry though a damp start meant a delay to the start of racing, and further work needed when water resurfaced causing some delay. We did get 3 full rounds of racing in during the day, so were quite lucky with the weather that day!

The winners and averages were:

1st Place: Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ .033 average (so consistent again!)
2nd Place: Rob & Pete Brown in ‘Wrathchild’ .100 average (well done Marras on equalling your best result!!)
3rd Place: Jim Tanner in ‘Shindigger’ .236 average (another good result)
4th Place: Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ .261 average (her first ever Top 4 win! Congrats Philippa!)

Spot Prize winners were:

Closest to Dial-in: Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ .007 off (we will have to nickname him ‘Mr Bond’ as that’s several times this year he has been that close! Well done!)
Best Altered: Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ (commentators mentioned his great consistency!)
Best Slingshot: Rob & Pete Brown in ‘Wrathchild’
Best Engineered: Darryl Howells in ‘Chemical Reaction’
Driver's Choice: Dave ‘Sag’ Southworth in ‘Daddy Cool’
Most Improved Speed: Mick Hillier in 'Texas Ranger' with 1.48 mph improvement *

And the updated PB’s were:

Lee Hartnell in ‘Metal Mistress’ 11.367
Mick Hillier in 'Texas Ranger' 139.60 mph * (from 138.12 mph)
Steve Bingham in 'Sneaky Blinder' 103.90 mph

(All from Saturday, so well done to all!) (Do let me know if I have missed any others!)

The full field was:

Pete and Rob Brown in ‘Wrathchild’ (great burnouts and show Marras!)
Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ (absolutely on rails again!)
Lee Hartnell in ‘Metal Mistress’ (huge commiserations on the damage, Lee! After such hard work!)
Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ (fantastic mid 8 runs, great show, big commiserations on the damage!)
Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ (great show again, gaining in confidence, fabulous Top 4 place!)
Michael Kenway in ‘Grease Monkey’ (great efforts guys, car looks so good, great burnouts!)
Mick Hillier in ‘Texas Ranger’ (really nice runs, sounding real strong!)
Steve Bingham in ‘Sneaky Blinder’ (fantastic team package, big improvement on the last run!)
Darryl Howells in ‘Chemical Reaction’ (great runs again, fair play Dar!)
Sag Southworth in ‘Daddy Cool’ (great to see Sag and team running and improving speed each time! all our very best to you all - we love you all!!!)
Steve Field in ‘Black Pig Too’ (sorry to see a gremlin, better luck next time folks!)
Andy Stones in ‘Stoned’ (another good performance, and fab tow car and its driver!!)
Jim Tanner in ‘Shindigger’ (great stuff cowboy! Another good placing!)
Robert White in ‘Happy Daze’ (nice to see this new team having fun, all the best of luck!)

Commiserations to all those with breakages and minor problems and hope to see you out soon!

Highlights of the weekend include the most fantastic group of people and cars! And another fun fancy dress despite the weather. Brilliant to be back and to see you all! Thank you for all your kind words and hugs!! Well done on another great show! Many thanks to all at Shakey for all their hard work again!!!

All the best

Claire
