Hi everybody.

Here are the brief results from the ‘Green Light Nationals’ at Santa Pod last weekend, 17th & 18th August.

The Wild Bunch had a small field of 3 cars participating in the event. We had 4 qualifying runs scheduled on Saturday, and one on Sunday. Unfortunately only 2 of the Bunch were able to take part, due to some car issues!  On Sunday, the 5th qualifier took place at 12:15, and then the Final just before 5pm.

The Winner was:

Pete Brown in ‘Rebel’

The Spot Prizes were:

#1 Qualifier: Pete Brown in ‘Rebel’.008 off

Best Reaction (elims): Pete Brown in ‘Rebel’ .201

The full line-up was:

·           Pete Brown in ‘Rebel’ – Pete qualified in #1 spot with an 8.558 on an 8.55, at 154.74 mph, Pete made every qualifying run. On Sunday, he was matched up with Bob in the Final but ended up with a solo when Bob had to shut down after the burnout. He recorded another strong 8.553 on an 8.57 Dial-in! So consistent! Well done Pete! He also earned both of the Spot Prizes on offer this weekend!

·           Bob Hawkins in ‘Time Traveller II’ - Bob qualified in 2nd place overall, after having briefly held the top spot after the second qualifier. In that round he ran the quickest and fastest of the Bunch for the weekend with a great 6.656 @ 190.58mph on a 6.49 Dial-in. Unfortunately he had bad tyre shake in the third round and the team had to spend the rest of the day and the next morning investigating for any possible damage. They rectified a few issues, and Bob ran a strong burnout in the Final, but unfortunately there was an issue so he could not make the pass! Hope Bob and the team can sort this for the next event! Best of luck folks!

·           Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ – the team were back after an 18-month break in which time they had fitted a new Pro charger system. There proved to be a couple of issues with this when Bob ran some checkout passes on the Friday test day. The team diagnosed an overfuelling issue, and after some more checks and discussion with others with similar systems, they decided it best not to try to run for the rest of the weekend, until they could modify the setup. Best of luck to them with this!

Massive thanks again to everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work as always! Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams who supported this event!

Commiserations to Bob H and hope the ‘Time Traveller II’ issue can be sorted for the next event, and also to Bob M and Team ‘B-Sting’ on the teething issues and hope they can make adjustments for their next outing.

We really hope to see a bigger field for the MSUK final event on 20th - 22nd September!! So if everyone that is able to can support the event, that would be fantastic! In the meantime we are looking forward to the NSRA Hot Rod Drags on 13th - 15th September which will see the Final of the Roy Wilding Nostalgia Race Cars Series and the penultimate round of both the Wild Bunch Series and Spirit of Nostalgia Series!! Really looking forward to both of these races!!

All the best

Claire
