Hi everybody!

Here are the brief results from our WB 'June Shootout' at the RWYB & 'Retro Show' event at Santa Pod, on 16th & 17th June, with a full writeup and results to follow as soon as we can! The event was Wild Bunch Series Round 2 and the Spirit of Nostalgia Challenge Series Round 3.

The Wild Bunch had 19 teams participating this weekend. Saturday was dry and cloudy, with a bit of wind. Though there was a small bit of drizzle Sunday morning, it did not delay the track opening. After a brief stoppage in the middle of the first round, the rest of the day was dry until a very small stoppage late on. We managed to complete all 4 rounds of racing on Sunday. We dedicated the event to our great friend Scottie, who we sadly lost 2 years ago on the Saturday. Very much in our thoughts and our hearts as we raced this weekend. Youˇ¦re still with us all the way, matey!!

The winners were:

1st Place: Keith Crampton in 'Soul Town Shaker' .0786
2nd Place: Rob & Pete Brown in 'Wrathchild'.1008
3rd Place: Bob Morgan in 'B-Sting' .5659
4th Place: Mark Coulsell in 'Ballbreaker' .6038

Special mention goes to James Auld, who was leading the competition by some distance and would have won if it were not for his red light in the Final round! Shucks!

Many thanks to Keith Crampton of Wiz Training for sponsoring all of the trophies for this weekend, much appreciated.

Here are the Spot Prizes that were awarded:-

Best Reaction (on Race-day): James Auld in 'Little Fauss'.010
Closest to Dial-in (on Race-day): Rob & Pete Brown in 'Wrathchild' .004 off
Quickest E.T.: Bob Hawkins in 'Time Traveller II' 6.929
Best Altered: Mick Hillier in 'Texas Ranger'
Best Slingshot: Chris Manning in 'The Villain'
Best Burnout: Bob Hawkins in 'Time Traveller II'
Best Appearing Car: Mark Coulsell in 'Ballbreaker'

Some highlights of the weekend included a really good field of Wild Bunch, better weather than predicted, a good amount of track time, a few brilliant individual performances, and as ever, the great group of cars and people and a fantastic show by the whole Bunch!!

The full field included:

Bob Morgan in 'B-Sting' (dialled in accordingly to the carˇ¦s performance, and earned a Top 4 place)
Jim Tanner in 'Shindigger' (some wayward runs and a few hops, good in the third round)
Pete & Rob Brown in 'Wrathchild' (great bounceback from a near breakage and solid Top 4 place)
Mark Coulsell in 'Ballbreaker' (made it in the nick of time and ran two great 8.4 s and a Top 4!)
Philippa Turton in 'Bitchcraft'(unfortunately still suffering with gearbox related issues, best of luck!)
Mick Hillier in 'Texas Ranger' (had some glitches, but getting more promising on the third run)
Chris Manning in 'The Villain' (two fantastic back-to-back 7-second 170 mph+runs! Fab-looking car and team!)
Russ Heaven in 'Tight Fit' (son Steve had his first ever run Saturday, with a great 60ft, but unfortunately they torched the head!)
Skippy in 'Cheap Thrills'(team enjoyed themselves, though unfortunately suffered major engine damage!)
Darryl Howells in 'Chemical Reaction' (several good low 9-second passes on Sunday, still chuffed and grinning from his recent awesome Spitfire flight!!!)
Steve Field in 'Black Pig Too' (four 9-second runs of all varieties, finished in 6th place!)
Andy Stones in 'Stoned' (enjoying his racing, best run in fourth round, finished in 5th place!)
Keith Crampton in 'Soul Town Shaker' (consistent low 11-second passes, and a great win!!)
Bob Hawkins in 'Time Traveller II' (absolutely awesome burnouts and a 6.9/201!! But unfortunately suffered engine damage in the first round)
Pete Huckle in 'The Jagster' (improved throughout Sunday, great crew, finished in 7th place)
Robert White in 'Happy Daze' (team enjoyed their first event at Santa Pod, but sadly had engine damage)
Paul Bambrick in 'American Pie' (testing on the Saturday, but will need a bigger pump to achieve the numbers they are after)
James Auld in 'Little Fauss' (great consistent runs Sunday, would have won but for the cherry!)
Paul Watson in 'Grumpy's T' (a big welcome to the Wild Bunch to him and Kim and the whole team )

Well done to Mark & Steve and the whole 'Ballbreaker' team who overcame fuel pump problems to run some excellent passes Sunday and finish in the Top 4; and well done to Pete & Rob and the whole 'Wrathchild' team who managed to fix some problems by Saturday night and ran very well to a 2nd place on Sunday!

Commiserations to: Philippa and Mark Turton who had continued gearbox woes in 'Bitchcraft', Mick Hillier with shifter problems in the 'Texas Ranger', Russ Heaven whose engine sustained a torched head in the 'Tight Fit' slingshot, Team Ratchet Strap who did some comprehensive damage to their beloved Ford in their 'Cheap Thrills' 'sustained engine damage in the 'Time Traveller II' slingshot with at least some piston damage; Robert White who has engine damage with a hole in the sump, and to Paul Watson who had electrical and starter motor problems. Hope they can all get fixed and be back out on track really soon! Very Best of luck to them all!!

PB s
Chris Manning in 'The Villain' 7.894 @ 171.75mph Excellent!

[Please shout if I missed any!!]

It was a good event, where we were lucky with the weather and to get all 4 rounds completed! Many thanks to all at Santa Pod for their hard work as always. Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams on a fab show! We are now looking forward to the MSA 'Summer Nationals' on June 30th & July 1st.

All the best
Claire
