The following drivers were also at the track, but did not participate in Wild Bunch rounds:-

Martin Holgate (WB 43) was testing "Paranoia" on Saturday until the new Harmonic Balancer broke;

Mike Nicholls (WB 93) had brought back "The Hooky Crusader" and re-painted the slingshot gold and flamed and re-named it "Golddigger". He was testing the car, but found problems, so did not stay for Sunday;

Steve Goode (WB 102) was likewise doing further testing with the "Wobble" altered;

and Pete Radcliffe (WB 112) was running the "Burning Desire" altered with the Supercharged Outlaws, making THREE passes with the car, running a best of a 9.1 on Sunday.
Saturday
was a practice day with most drivers making two or more runs. Rain stopped play for about an hour in the morning, but mostly the grey clouds were kept at bay and the weather was okay.
Sunday
was Series Points Day and there were 21 cars taking part in the three rounds. The competition has never been so close, as 10 drivers were all within 1% of their perfect total index, and even the 5th place driver, Chris Hartnell, just missed out with a 99.706% index, which would have been good enough for the 1st place slot at the June Test and Tune.

As you can see, many drivers are really running consistently, so there should be some close competition throughout the season! Also, 11 drivers ran their Personal Best E.T.'s, with some doing so on the practice round after the 3 official Series rounds.
WB 1 Ray Ford was having his turn in "Nutcracker" and trying to better the 12.884 set by Gos at the last event. Unfortunately the flywheel bolts broke early in the day, which meant a long trip back to Bristol for Ed to pick up spare parts. The team worked until past midnight on Saturday, and had the car repaired in time to do a test pass before the rounds started. Ray ran a Personal Best of 13.031 in the car and took the "Closest to Dial-in" Spot Prize for his 13.208 on the 13.2 Dial-in, just 8 thousandths off!
WB 3 Crewman Dave Williams was having his turn in Tony Smith's "The Cunning Plan" altered and was determined to beat Tony's best E.T. of 12.156 with the Body on. His first pass was a really straight, tidy, 12.2 second run, but the second pass saw the car starting to bounce and getting well out of shape, Dave putting the brakes on hard to narrowly miss the little Fiat in the other lane, but being unable to avoid the Armco. Luckily Dave was fine, apart from some bruising, but the car's suspension was broken as it hit a glancing blow to the barrier. Fortunately the bodywork did not fare too badly and Dave took "Wildest Ride" Spot Prize for his adventure. When Tony arrived later that afternoon, he was determined to fix the problem and the team worked well into the dark with some new parts to get the suspension fixed, and were able to run a test pass on Sunday with the Body off. Dave went on to run a good 12.118 in the third round, so all credit to the team for sorting the car out!
WB 4 Chris Hartnell made a pair of good strong runs on the Saturday, with a best of 9.369. Sunday saw a 9.4 and a couple of wheelying 9.3's, with the best being 9.338, on his 9.40 Dial-in. Even with this consistency, Chris just missed the Top 4 places by a mere .011% in some very close competition.
WB 7 Roy Wilding had several problems with the "Hemi Hunter" slingshot, including the learning curve trying to get the clutch set right, and a very small oil dribble, which were both soon sorted. He ran a best of a 9.7 on Sunday for his only full pass, and had been doing some great smoky burnouts in the effort. Roy and the team took the "Best Appearing Team" award for their immaculate new team shirts and their good general overall presentation on the line!
WB 17 Chris Bennett was really getting a handle on his carb set-up with the "Cheeky Monkey" slingshot and ran a best speed of 130 mph and Personal Best E.T. of 10.236, also running within 1% of perfect index on his 10.50 Dial-in, and finishing 8th overall.
WB 20 Mark Coulsell was doing his usual good reaction times, taking "Best Reaction" with a .440 in the third round. Unfortunately his second round reaction was a red light of only .398, so close! He ran a best of 10.723 on Sunday.
WB 28 Pete Loveridge was doing strong burnouts in the "Herr X" slingshot and ran a Personal Best of 11.214 on Saturday, but sadly had a broken half shaft in the first round Sunday, putting him out of the running.
WB 56 Sarah Howells was in her second outing in "RamRaider", after just putting in one 20-second checkout pass at the June Test and Tune. She had successively better runs on Saturday of 16-seconds, 15-seconds, 13-seconds and 12-seconds, hoping to get into the 11's on the Sunday. After one more 12-second pass, she ran an 11.554 and an 11.6 in the three rounds, finishing with a great 11.136 @ 127 mph on the test run at the end of the day. This performance earned her "Best Slingshot" and the voted "Driver's Choice" Spot Prizes. She also finished within 1% of her total perfect index in 9th place!
WB 58 Tony Froome had had the "Sundance III" re-painted again and the paint job matched the car's performance, with Tony putting in some strong laps of and 8.5 and two 8.3's, running a Personal Best of 8.300 in the first round, taking "Quickest E.T." Spot Prize, and taking the "Fastest MPH" award with a 160.14 mph. He ran consistently near his 8.45 Dial-in, and finished in 7th place.
WB 61 Nick Pettitt was back in his "Kool Kams" radical and running low 11's consistently. He ran a best of 11.078 in the second round on Sunday, now with the carb set-up. Nick did have a lot of fun participating in the event, and the car is still up for sale if anyone's interested!!
WB 63 Joe Stevens broke his jinx, by not breaking anything on the car, and by running between a Personal Best of 11.494 in the first round, and an 11.5 and an 11.7 on an 11.60 Dial-in, taking the 3rd place overall for the event.
WB 67 Darryl Howells was running really well Saturday, in the opposite lane to wife Sarah, and ran a Personal Best of 12.205, before the clutch sadly broke on the first round Sunday. [This has since been fixed, so he'll be back out at the Mini event!].
WB 71 Andy Solley was back in the orange "Repeat Offender" altered, for his first Wild Bunch event this year, running low 11's on the Saturday, before turning the gas on for Sunday. He was rewarded in the second round, as he bypassed the 10's and went straight into the 9's, with a 9.7; bettered with a Personal Best 9.648 in round three, taking "Best Altered" Spot Prize for his efforts, and really enjoying the weekend.
WB 73 Johnny Hall had some teething problems on Saturday with the gearbox, only running an 11.80. Sadly, the problems got worse on Sunday, resulting in a 20-second pass. Hope he can sort the box out soon!
WB 88 Lee Johnstone and Richard Walters were there for their first outing this season, with the "Thriller" Topolino altered. Lee was running Saturday, putting in a great 9.44, and helping co-driver Rich oversee his son's early outings in a Junior Dragster. Rich took over the reigns on Sunday, and Dialled-in blind with a 9.50. He ran a 9.613 and a 9.518, followed by a great 9.124 @ 147 mph in the third round to take 1st place overall!
WB 91 Ian Hanson was out in his immaculate red blown altered, running a solid 9.43 on Saturday, followed by a good 9.4 and 9.5 (on a 9.40 Dial-in) on Sunday. Unfortunately, he was forced to lift in the third round, due to a sharp unexpected turn, resulting in a 20-second pass, throwing out his average.
WB 109 Barry Bohannon was at the track on his own with the "B-Sting" altered, and only made one 12.8 second pass on Saturday. He put in two 12.4's and a 12.5 on his 12.50 Dial-in, but red-lit in the third round, throwing out his position. He also made a test pass late in the day and ran a team and Personal Best of 12.415, quickly phoning home to tell the team the good news!
WB 110 Nick Connor was also back out in his first event of the season, after playing with some Porsches. He was straight into the 10's with a 10.601 on Saturday, and ran a Personal Best of 10.542 in the first round, followed by a 10.7 and 10.5 on his 10.60 Dial-in, taking 4th place overall.
WB 124 Fellow Dog Squad member Mark Turton had renamed his green altered "Growler", and Saturday saw his Personal Best of a 12.400. He experienced a couple of teething problems Sunday with a 14, a 12 and a 40-second run, but hopefully he'll be back on track soon!
WB 133 Tom Coe was coaching girlfriend Jenny through her first ever runs in the "Cobalt" slingshot, and she started off with a very impressive low 13-second run @ 105 mph. Her third run looked even better, but she got real keen after doing a good first burnout and couldn't wait for the green. Looks like she's really enjoying the experience! In between, Dad Alec was back in the hotseat and ran a 12.2 amongst several other runs, all on Saturday. Tom took over on Sunday, and ran a 12.2 and two good 12.0's, finishing within 1% of the perfect index, but only in 6th place, as the competition was so tough!
WB 637 Gerald Cookson had his most consistent weekend with Wild Bunch ever as he ran 11.7 after 11.7 on both days, starting with an 11.712 on an 11.70 Dial-in in the first round, nearly being closest to the Dial-in overall. He ran a great 11.603 in the second round for good measure and ended up taking 2nd place overall with 99.912% off a perfect index, just .007% behind the winner!
What great close competition!! And what a great event! Roll on the Mini weekend!!
