The Mini Showdown was the sixth event of the WB season. It was the 4th round of the Wild Bunch Series, and the 6th round of the Real Steel Series; and there was a field of 13 Wild Bunch cars participating: 4 Altereds, 8 Slingshots and 1 Rear-engined dragster.

| The weather forecast was mixed for Saturday and poor for Sunday, so we hoped it would be better than expected. Saturday dawned okay, and though there had been some rain overnight, the track was dry and prepped by about 10am. Just as the first car was about to fire up, there was a heavy downpour! There was light rain after this, and another downpour around 11:30am, and there were further clouds all around. And at 12:30pm came the announcement that the organisers had called off the whole event, due to imminent rain later, and on Sunday. What a shame for everyone! Commiserations to all the teams who were there! Several teams packed up and left early afternoon, but many stayed over for the annual fancy dress party with a 20's theme, and all had a good evening!
We are now really looking forward to Wild Bunch Series Round 5, Real Steel Series Round 7 and Roy Wilding Nostalgia Race Cars Series Round 2 at the second “Dragstalgia” event at Santa Pod on July 14th & 15th! We have a big field of 20 Wild Bunch cars pre-entered for that event!! |
