And of note was the appearance in the pits of a new slingshot. This was a car belonging to Graham Ford, who had bought it in 1998. The car had not been used since, and as a 60th birthday present to Graham, his sons had kidnapped the car from his garage and had some updates done: a new roll cage, body work and quick-release steering wheel. Son James brought the car to the track early Sunday morning and the rest of the family got Graham there, to reveal the car!! There was an added bonus, as also out with a new car this weekend, was Mr Flathead, Ken Cooper, with his son Bradley driving their car. It turned out that Ken had actually built Graham's car back in 1972! What a story!

The weather forecast was mixed for Saturday and Sunday, though it was improving, so we hoped we could get the full 4 rounds in this weekend. Saturday was cloudy and windy all day, though mostly dry until the evening. Many of the teams managed to get in 3 or more runs throughout the day. Sunday dawned cool, cloudy and windy, but just as the track was about to be sprayed at 9:45am, there was a huge downpour!! This took a couple of hours to dry, while the track crew worked hard. with the assistance of the new sweeper, which was very effective. Just as the crew were about to spray the track ready for a 12:30 start, there was another torrential downpour!! This turned to persistent drizzle for a while and things did not look good. Though the track crew started to work again. After a second mammoth effort, the crew managed to get the track around, and amazingly, it opened at 3pm!! Fair play to them for all their efforts. The Wild Bunch were quickly in the queue and got the first round done by 3:15pm! There was then time for a second, at about 4:30pm! So many thanks to the hard working track crew and marshals we had 2 rounds! Throughout the weekend 6 drivers ran Personal Best E.T.'s and 6 ran PB Speeds. Well done to all!
WB 1 Adam Price was in his 4th event this season, after having to sit the last event out due to gearbox and tyre damage in the Go Hard or Go Home!!! altered. He began the weekend with a 9.46 at 140.99mph checkout pass. He later ran a 9.205 at a new Personal Best Speed of 144.48mph. His third run Saturday also netted a new best speed, with a 9.228 at 144.99mph. He also ran a 9.369 at 144.10mph. The team dialled in at 9.24 for Sunday, and Adam began well with a 9.258 at 143.38mph in the first round, with an equal Wild Bunch 'Closest to Dial-in' of .018 off. He then posted a 9.265 at 143.66mph in the second round to win the event! His second win of the year! This was accompanied by £50 prize money, courtesy of Roy Wilding, for each event winner in his Series. Many thanks to Roy for this kind contribution! Adam is now in 3rd place in both the Wild Bunch and Real Steel Series and is leading the Roy Wilding Series.
WB 3 saw Dave Williams in his 5th event of the season with his Green with Envy altered. He then ran an 11.579 at 116.57mph in the second round and finished in 11th place overall.
WB 8 Mark Coulsell and team were raring to go for their 5th event of the season in the Limited Funz Racing Ballbreaker slingshot, after hopefully curing their fuel delivery problems experienced at the last event. Mark started Saturday well with a new Personal Best ET of 9.110 at a Personal Best Speed of 148.50mph! Great start! He ran even better on his next pass, recording his first ever 8-second run, with an 8.955 at 148.94mph, another best speed! Congratulations to Mark and the whole team on this achievement!! Very well deserved and a long time in the making! He later ran a 9.144 at 148.04mph, and a 9.038 at 148.94mph again. He took part in one of the flag start demos, getting pushed down by Scottie's '54 Chevy, and pumping up the tyres to smoke them, and just recording a 10-second 144mph pass. The team dialled in at 9.08 for Sunday, and Mark posted a 9.191 at 144.48mph. He recorded a 9.129 at 145.18mph in the second round and finished in 5th place for the event. Tony took part in the flag start demos and recorded an 11.6 at 117.87mph, a new best speed. He dialled in at 11.20 for the rounds on Sunday. His first round resulted in a new Personal Best ET of 11.352 at 116.09mph, which is already better than his PB with the Cunning Plan with its body on! His second round pass was an 11.386 at 116.50mph. He finished in 10th place overall and was pleased with his first outing in the car. It really does look great and we are all pleased to see its debut and have Tony back out with the Bunch!!
