Big Bang Trophy
Terry Clifford, WB 25, "Ratcatcher Resurrection" Slingshot
Terry debuted the beautiful ‘Ratcatcher Resurrection’ slingshot early in the season and ran 4 events with the Wild Bunch, making steady progress throughout the year. He gained his MSA licence but on his first ever MSA event (the Open Sports Nationals at Shakey in August) a rod let go and destroyed the engine, leaving holes in the block! Luckily, both he and the car were a-ok!
Fastest MPH
Alec Coe, WB 34, "Shy Talker" Slingshot
Alec ran an amazing 169.37 mph in the "Shy Talker" at the Power Nationals in April. (He backed up this speed within 5%, with a 166.63 mph at the Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod!).
Quickest E.T.
Alec Coe, WB 34, "Shy Talker" Slingshot
Alec ran an impressive 8.143 at the Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod in April. (He backed up this time within 5%, with an 8.240 at the Power Nationals at Shakey!).
Fastest time by a British-engined dragster
(‘Team Paranoia’ trophy)
Martin Holgate, WB 43, "Paranoia"
The winner must run a British engine, and back their time up within 5%.
This year’s winner is Martin Holgate himself, who ran a 9.475 in his "Paranoia" altered at the Santa Pod Truck Event in August, which he backed up with a 9.574 at the same event.
Best Newcomer
Terry Clifford, WB 25, "Ratcatcher Resurrection" Slingshot
Terry is a very keen nostalgia enthusiast. He participated in 4 events this year, and quickly got a handle on driving his period slingshot. He succeeded in gaining his MSA licence at his very first Wild Bunch round, where he also ran his PB of 12.290 @ 106.32 mph, a great debut! He finished 5th at the UK Truck Event at Santa Pod in August and won a "Best Slingshot" Spot Prize at the Open Sports Nationals. Terry Clifford is a friendly, keen ambassador for nostalgia and a great addition to the Wild Bunch!
Best Altered
Roy Wilding, WB 100, "Chariot of Fire"
‘Chariot of Fire’ is an immaculately presented, well-engineered and maintained car, which ran 10 events this season. Roy lowered the E.T. to an 11.245 @ 123 mph, and won three "Best Altered" Spot Prizes and a "Best Appearing Team" award during the season, and finished in 2nd place in the Wild Bunch Series and won the Real Steel Series!
Best Rear-engine Dragster / Radical
Wicked Lady Drag Racing Team, WB 40, "The Wicked Lady"
‘The Wicked Lady’ is always spotless in appearance and presentation, and won no less than four "Best Dragster/Radical" Spot Prizes and a "Best Appearing Team" award, in the five events that the team participated in this season.
Best Slingshot
Team Dog’s Bollocks, WB 9, "RamRaider"
‘RamRaider’ has won many Spot Prizes including three "Best Slingshot" and two "Best Engineered" awards, as well as a "Best Appearing Team" award during the 12 events the team ran at this season. This brand new injected methanol slingshot is well-engineered and runs regular mid to low 9’s, with a PB this season of 9.195 @ 147 mph. All 3 drivers (Ed, Gos and Ray) have improved their performance over the season, and the car promises even more for 2007!
Best Turned Out
Roy Wilding, WB 100, "Chariot of Fire"
Roy shows great attention to detail in the maintenance and presentation of his car and smart appearance of the team and pit area, which is always clean and tidy. The team won three "Best Altered" Spot Prizes and a "Best Appearing Team" award, with a great overall package.
Perseverance Award
Mark Hartnell, WB 16, "Awesome 4–Some"
Young Mark faced several breakages throughout the early part of the season, culminating in a total gearbox failure. He bought another box only to have a string of problems with non-matching parts but solved them all to make it to the very next event, where he set several PB’s! During the season he won a couple of Spot Prizes and finished second at the Nostalgias. He had several more teething problems but kept plugging away and running better and better. For all his efforts Mark was rewarded with a PB 12.185 second pass at York!
Best Achiever
Team Dog’s Bollocks, WB 9, "RamRaider"
The team debuted a new car at the beginning of the season, and they had worked hard to ensure it was a well-turned out car. This was rewarded when they won three "Best Slingshot" and two "Best Engineered" awards. They had three Top 4 placings this season. The team strived all year to improve the car’s performance, and this resulted in a Best E.T. of 9.195 & a speed of 147.99 mph. Great achievements for their first year with the car for Gos, Ed, Ray and Sarah.
Daddy Cool (Sags) Personal Achievement
Martin & Janice, of Team "Paranoia"
Martin and Janice are exceptional people. They are both kind, friendly and easy-going and fit their racing in with their many family commitments, with their foster kids and Rhianne and they go out of their way to include their family at the track. Martin has not been in the best of health recently, but never complains, and just gets on with things. He has won this award before, and is now sharing it with Janice who is a remarkable woman, who supports and encourages him every step of the way in chasing that elusive 8-second pass with their "Paranoia" altered. The team are making steady progress, all the while keeping up their strong family philosophy. And no doubt, with their persevering attitude, they will get there very soon.
Derek & Brenda Annable trophy
Jim & Tush Usher
This award was initiated by Derek and Brenda to be presented to a ‘couple’ or partnership who are committed to Drag Racing, or any pair who demonstrate the family spirit of the Wild Bunch. Derek and Brenda chose the first recipients in 2003, and thereafter the winners in turn chose the following recipients.

Last year’s winners, Gerald & Jerry Cookson, have chosen Jim and Tush for their long standing commitment to Drag Racing, both for the track and on the track.
C & C Sportsperson
Tony Smith, WB 2, "The Cunning Plan"
Tony always shows fair play and sportsmanship to fellow racers, and is always helping others. He is a keen competitor, yet always friendly and encouraging, with a sense of humour. He has always been a great ambassador for the Wild Bunch. Whilst racing this year he is also training to be a scrutineer in order to help the sport of Drag Racing. He takes this very seriously and is very professional and affable. Tony Smith is a real Sportsman and a top bloke.
DON GARLITS ‘SPIRIT OF DRAG RACING’ SHIELD
The founder of the Wild Bunch.Roy Wilding with the "Chariot of Fire"
This year’s winner has been a committed member of the Wild Bunch since the beginning. He has raced several well-turned out cars throughout the years, and his latest is no exception. He took part in 10 events at all three tracks this year, running both MSA and RWYB events, and consistently fielding an immaculately presented car, which won the "Best Altered" award 3 times, a "Best Appearing Team" award, and half a dozen Mr Bolt Spot Prizes, winning 3 events along the way. This cheerful driver always has time to help others and goes out of his way to do so, at the same time encouraging them along the way and helping to bring new racers into the sport. He is really enjoying his racing these days, improving the performance of his altered and running a PB of 11.245 @ 123 mph. He has achieved great success this year, winning the Real Steel Series and finishing Runner-up in the Wild Bunch Series.
