Can anyone tell me about firewalls? I am going to use a fibreglass T body. How do I fit an ally firewall to it? screws? modern adhesive? The chassis already has a kind of firewall with cables etc running through it How do I seal it?

Intumescent putty is what you are looking for, basically a modern version of fireclay putty.

Alan

Just turn the blower up

Is there any other neater way to fix the ally to the Fibreglass body other than rivets?

In Wickes they sell a "fire proof silicon sealer" in a tube like normal silicon

On reading the details it says "for use with fire door frames and for sealing fire proof areas, has an additive that expands with heat (200 degrees) and seals gaps against fire and smoke, turns to cinder after heating" now it doesnt say intumescent anywhere on the tube but the description of how it behaves is exactly the same as intumescent strips which fit around fire doors

I would have thought you could use it to mount the firewall as well allong with a couple of fixings.

regards
