Hi,
Can anyone answer this, looking at buying a car initially for non MSA meets and will probably get the tubing upgraded for the following year. Currently the chassis and roll cage is 1" 3/8" with a 4mm wall thickness, will this scrutineer for non MSA events, structurally it is sound and the welds are good, just to upgrade before running would kill the deal. Running a Rover engine N/A so probably low 11's at best. Would this be able to run Hot Rod Drags and Gary's Picnic?
Thanks
Alan

Sounds very iffy to me, save your money and get a proper tagged and legal safty cell. A car does not know the difference between a 100mph roll at a rwyb or a MSA event. People with quality cages walk away from accidents. Proved once again at the weekend by Paul Marston. |

Glen, I appreciate what you are saying and it will be addressed at a later date, the initial question is would this car be allowed to run at Hot Rod Drags or the Nostalgia's as it stands now? I stress, the wall thickness and material are more than is required the only question is the smaller OD. Thanks for your help.

its seamless Schedule 40 pipe, Tensile and Yield are same as for CDS tubing. Would have been easier had he used the right stuff I know.
Thanks

at the moment a big investigation is going on re the York incident and quality of race cars. so if you have not bought the chassis yet I would be very wary Rwybs could well suffer for poorer quality cars. so I am told. |

I appreciate the heads up, think I will hang fire at the moment, I was at York that day and its not something I would like to repeat. However the circumstances of a pro street race car and a tube chassis altered are quite different.
Thanks again
Alan
